In Maryland, any theft of an amount over One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00) is considered a felony.  Shoplifting, minor theft, theft schemes, fraud and fraud schemes are considered “white-color” crimes and are not viewed as crimes of violence.  However, depending on your charges you could face anywhere from 90 days to 20 years in prison.
